Help Us Choose the Journey

Introduction
This year we have walked together through Wrapped in His Presence. We learned the five sacred postures of SHAWL, which are Surrender, Humble, Abide, Wait, and Listen. Month by month, we let the Holy Spirit take us deeper into dying to self, brokenness, union, stillness, and silence, and then into transformation and rest. It has been a year of being drawn inward and of letting God wrap us in Himself.
Something happens to a heart that has been wrapped in His presence, though: sooner or later, it begins to overflow. What God pours into us is never meant to stop with us. Jesus said, "You didn't choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit" (John 15:16, NLT).
As I have prayed about 2027, the Lord has laid three possible paths on my heart. This time, I don't want to choose alone. This devotional is for you, the family God has gathered around The Refinery, so I'm asking you to pray with me and help decide where we go next.
Please read the three options below, take them before the Lord, and then cast your vote.
Option 1: Refined: The Refiner's Fire
"He will sit like a refiner of silver, burning away the dross. He will purify the Levites, refining them like gold and silver, so that they may once again offer acceptable sacrifices to the Lord." (Malachi 3:3, NLT)
This is the verse our ministry is named for. For a full year, we would sit in the Refiner's fire together. We would learn what the heat of trials is for, what dross God is burning away, and why the Refiner never leaves the furnace. The year would move from The Fire (January–May), through The Process (June–October), and into The Offering (November–December). That last part is about a refined life offered back to God.
Option 2: Abiding Fruit: From Presence to Overflow
"But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." (Galatians 5:22–23, NLT)
This path picks up right where 2026 ends. From January through September, we would spend one month on each fruit of the Spirit, nine in all. From October through December, we would explore Fruit That Reproduces, meaning discipleship as Christ reproducing Himself through us into someone else's life.
Option 3: Wounded to Carry: The Ministry of Comfort
"He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us." (2 Corinthians 1:4, NLT)
This is a year for anyone carrying pain, and for anyone God is preparing to carry someone else's. We would move from Wounded (January–May), where we are honest about pain and lament, to Comforted (June–October), where God meets us inside the wreckage. We would finish with Sent (November–December), where we take that same comfort to a hurting world.
Cast Your Vote
Pray first, then choose the path that stirs your spirit. Voting is open until Dec. 15, 2026, and the final theme will be announced here on December 31, 2026.
